Membership programs can be effective in donor retention. You can develop a structure where members make an annual contribution where they receive gifts that show their support of your organization. Those gifts may be as simple as shirts, lapel pins, and bumper stickers with your organization’s logo.

Offering your donors meaningful volunteer opportunities is another way to improve donor retention. Getting your donors out to experience the program and show them the work you are doing will help them stay connected to your cause. This allows them to interact with your organization in a way that helps create a bond.

Explaining to donors the impact that their support has had on your organization is also an important part of the giving experience. Conveying to the donor how their donation directly impacted your program makes the gift tangible.

Expressing your gratitude is one of the best ways to engage donors. Always remember to thank donors, no matter the size of the gift.
